{"id":1351,"date":"2012-04-20T11:31:05","date_gmt":"2012-04-20T11:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/galhano.com\/blog\/?p=1351"},"modified":"2012-04-20T11:43:03","modified_gmt":"2012-04-20T11:43:03","slug":"manually-update-and-rebuild-the-exchange-2003-gal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/galhano.com\/blog\/?p=1351","title":{"rendered":"Manually update and rebuild the Exchange 2003 GAL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This how-to walks through the process of manually updating offline address books for users from Exchange 2003 as well as the Global Address List.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Exchange System Manager<br \/>\nThis how-to was actually made on a WS2003STD SP2.<\/li>\n<li>Expand Recipients and Select &#8220;Offline Address Lists&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>In the right pane, right click the &#8220;Default Offline Address List&#8221; and select &#8220;Rebuild&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>It will give you a prompt about how long it can take<br \/>\nJust click &#8220;Yes&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Repeat this for the &#8220;Global Address List&#8221;<br \/>\nIn the left pane, now click on &#8220;Recipient Update Services&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>In the right pane, right click on each choice, first selecting &#8220;Update Now&#8221; on both, and then again selecting &#8220;Rebuild&#8221; on both<\/li>\n<li>That&#8217;s all<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This can take several hours though, with my 100 users it generally takes about 40 minutes max.<\/p>\n<p>I would also submit that you can manually re-download the address books via Outlook by selecting the small arrow next to send\/receive and then clicking on (you guessed right!) &#8220;Download Address Book&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This how-to walks through the process of manually updating offline address books for users from Exchange 2003 as well as the Global Address List.
