So I was delighted to find a little keyboard shortcut for launching an elevated process. Simply press <strong>Ctrl+Shift+Enter<\/strong> from the <strong>search bar<\/strong> on the <strong>start menu<\/strong> with a selected application, and that triggers elevation.<\/p>\n<p>For example, to launch an elevated command prompt, simply press the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Win key<\/span>; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">type cmd<\/span>; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">press Ctrl+Shift+Enter<\/span>; and then <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">hit Alt+C<\/span> to confirm the elevation prompt.<\/p>\n<p>Six keystrokes to an elevated command prompt!<\/p>\n<p>(Once I&#8217;ve got an elevated command prompt, I always like to execute <span style=\"color: #800000;\">color 4f<\/span> as my first input so that this console window is visually differentiated from other non-elevated windows.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/tims\/archive\/2006\/11\/02\/windows-vista-secret-10-open-an-elevated-command-prompt-in-six-keystrokes.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Source<\/a>\u00c2 <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/tims\/archive\/tags\/secret\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">View More secrets<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>User Account Control is,\u00c2 an important part of the security protection that Windows Vista offers.
